The main objective of this project is the alleviation of persons at risk of poverty and social exclusion within our society. This new community centre will help achieve this aim by improving the current services offered by Caritas Malta, as well as introducing new services to the service users of the organisation. This project will expand its addiction community services centre into a drop-in centre with fully equipped spaces for group and individual counselling, to respond to a current need for persons struggling with addiction who need a safe space during the day. It will also be offering a new service for people who successfully completed a rehabilitation programme, providing life-long support and follow up via the new After-Care unit. Other new services include a multi-purpose hall which will host a number of activities for vulnerable persons, and a roof garden offering a relaxing space to service users.
The community centre will also serve as a hub where Caritas can co-ordinate all the current facilities and services being offered, such as HelpAge, the Employees Assistance Programme, and the Focus Programme. This will enable Caritas to expand their services and reach more people in need of help.
